Pascoe: How did you get involved with J. Michael McCarthy and The Sore
Losers?
Guitar Wolf: He saw our show in Memphis, so he talk with me. At first
we said no.
Jim Pascoe: Why?
Guitar Wolf: We are not actors. He talked with me just ... Guitar Wolf,
Guitar Wolf, Guitar Wolf sound is ok, he said. So I think, no problem.
And I read script a little bit.
Jim Pascoe: Could you understand the script?
Guitar Wolf: Ah, no. That’s our thing. I thought our part is leather
jacket aliens from leather jacket planet ... so, hmm very funny, I thought
very funny. And very cool. So I ordered him laser beams from my eyes.
So he said, ok sure, let’s do it.
Jim Pascoe: Are you happy with the way it turned out?
Guitar Wolf: Yeah, but I can not understand the meaning of the movie
at all. But I like our scenes.
Jim Pascoe: What’s your favorite movie?
Guitar Wolf: Back to the Future.
Jim Pascoe: Did you see it in English or Japanese?
Guitar Wolf: Both. Michael J. Fox in English and translated in Japanese,
real Japanese.
Jim Pascoe: Do you read comics? Manga?
Guitar Wolf: Oh yeah!
Jim Pascoe: Which ones?
Guitar Wolf: Devilman by Go Nagi.
Jim Pascoe: What about Katsuhiro Otomo?
Guitar Wolf: Ah yeah, not so much. Just Akira. Akira is very difficult
to understand as manga.
Jim Pascoe: Why is that?
Guitar Wolf: Bigger.
Jim Pascoe: Bigger? Is it too big ... ah, too long?
Guitar Wolf: Too heavy to lift. My shoulder is tired.
Jim Pascoe: The new CD by Guitar Wolf ...
Guitar Wolf: Ah, yeah, the next album is a maybe next fall.
Jim Pascoe: What’s the title?
Guitar Wolf: Not now. I do not know now. Not decided. After this tour,
we will record the next album ... in Japan.
Jim Pascoe: How is the tour going now?
Guitar Wolf: Very great. It’s all good.
Jim Pascoe: What cities are the best?
Guitar Wolf: Memphis, San Francisco, Seattle and Austin ... Chicago
and New York ... maybe. This time there’s very exciting places:
St. Antonio, Albuquerque, Missouri, Spokane, and Columbus.
Jim Pascoe: What are people’s reaction to your music.
Guitar Wolf: At our shows? Well, the big city, many people are silent,
except Seattle. But small town people are always very exciting. We are
very happy. They are crazy. We are very happy to play a small town.
Jim Pascoe: Do you believe in aliens from outer space?
Guitar Wolf: Oh yeah, sure!
Jim Pascoe: Have you heard about Roswell?
Guitar Wolf: Oh, Roswell means suicide in UFO?
Jim Pascoe: Ah, an alien was supposedly found in the 1950s.
Guitar Wolf: Oh yeah. He was my friend. Our friend.
Jim Pascoe: The alien from Roswell was a Guitar Wolf fan?
Guitar Wolf: Oh yeah.
Jim Pascoe: Maybe some more aliens will come down for your next show.
Guitar Wolf: But they must hide. Go undercover. They have to.
Jim Pascoe: What do you think of John Wayne?
Guitar Wolf: Just seen one movie, very cool. Very famous movie, I don’t
know English title. I like Bruce Lee. Favorite movies are Back to the
Future and Enter Dragon.
Jim Pascoe: What about Elvis Presley?
Guitar Wolf: Yeah. My father. Anyhow, of course I love Elvis. I want
to look like his action.
Jim Pascoe: Have you been to Graceland?
Guitar Wolf: Yeah. His jet plane, very cool.
Jim Pascoe: Do you prefer saki or whiskey?
Guitar Wolf: Both. Together. Mixed. Very powerful, very good. Next day,
not so good.
Jim Pascoe: Is it cool to be a black person in Japan?
Guitar Wolf: Hmm? Oh yeah. Yes.
Jim Pascoe: Are there many black people in Japan?
Guitar Wolf: Not many, but that’s very popular. Many people like
black musicians. I like old rock musicians, Jimi Hendrix. Not now, today’s
musicians. But I like Michael Jackson. Old Michael Jackson. He’s
actually very genius. But I like his action, his dance. Nobody can move
like him. Very cool, very sharp. Like Bruce Lee.
Jim Pascoe: Are Guitar Wolf dancers? Do you guys got the moves down?
Guitar Wolf: Moonwalk? No, no, no. I just like cool action; I like genius
action. I want to live in genius action.
Jim Pascoe: Do you drive a fast car?
Guitar Wolf: I have motorcycle, just motorcycle. Kawasaki.
Jim Pascoe: Not a Harley Davidson?
Guitar Wolf: Harley is an American bike. Harley Davidson does not fit
into Japan. Harley is big motorcycle and very cool, and fit to American
roads. Kawasaki is very cool to me. I love Kawasaki.
Jim Pascoe: How would you sum up Guitar Wolf?
Guitar Wolf: Punk and rock-n-roll. I love the Ramones and Joan Jett
... and Bruce Lee.
