Thursday, June 01, 2006Godard is Dog
Hello! Checking in from South Korea, where I'm doing some writing research (which is what writers call a vacation). And in the spirit of "Alaska is for Players" and "Iraq is for Players," I am happy to report the winner (so far) of the best T-shirt in Korea. Yup, the subject line gives it all away, but let's hear it again for:
Godard is Dog. Anyone with any ideas what the hell this is supposed to mean, please post in the comments. Thank you. I'll be back with some more Writers' Tips when I return!

It's a partial dyslexic saying Godard is God.

It's a partial dyslexic stating his theology: Godard is God.

Google is your friend. It sounds like a knockoff of a limited edition sweater by Bella Freud that Kate Moss was photographed in.
On the front of the jumper is written, in elegantly knitted, white writing, "Ginsberg is God"; on the back, "Godard is Dog" - and after Kate Moss was photographed wearing hers last autumn (one of only 50), the remainder sold out instantly. As to what the message means, well, Freud is far too clever to pin it down, but simply remarks: "It just came out of talking with some friends - and it seemed like the essence of an evocative moment."
