The Sound of Backgammon So I get this call yesterday. Hello, I said. "May I speak to Jim?" Speaking, I said. The man paused. "Ah, Jim ... Pascoe." Hmm. Yeah, that's me.

His voice deflated. "I'm sorry, I have the wrong number. I was trying to reach Jim Pascoe the backgammon player."

Well, apparently I don't sound like a backgammon player. This makes me incredibly happy, because I am in fact not a backgammon player.

Let it be known to all ye foolish folk who googled this site with the wan hope of reaching higher backgammon knowledge: THERE IS NO BACKGAMMON HERE!

A New Band? After a three-hour business dinner (thank you, Jeffrey), I went bowling for my friend Damian's birthday. During this late-night outing, a swarthy guy by the name of Alex "Pitchfork" Pitschka -- the man responsible for the Aliens vs. Predator trailer -- came up to me and said:

"We're in a band. Our first gig is in December. We start practicing in October. All we need now is a horn section."

I was too drunk to remember anything else he said. I'll keep you all posted about October ... although with the frequency that I update this site, it may very well be IN October.

Animals on the Web Thanks to the lovely Karen for sharing these free-range Web siiites! It really is a toss-up which is better: the animals of Kenya or those adorable badgers. Write in and let me know!

E-mail Hell I spent the better part of this evening catching up with the two months of e-mail that has piled up in my inbox -- with the exception of Sean Doolittle. I'll get back to him soon enough. At least HE updated his Web site recently, but it looks like he's as busy as I am. Boy oh boy. Now my inbox only has 1,930 messages.

What else is new? I've managed to corrupt my fiancee Gabrielle into drinking during her online traffic school. Not as good as drinking and playing driving video games, but still pretty rad. What's good for the goose is good for the Gandolf. Oh sailor.

I am not dead Really. I didn't mean to get this far behind on this site, but a ton has been happening and I'm still trying to dig myself out -- and that includes responding to a huge stack of e-mail. Soon, my brothers and sisters, soon.

I guess I'll share one little secret: my hair has returned to its original green. Long live the new flesh.
