Monday, July 12, 2004Back from NYC
It's been a while, I know. I got crunched with a true up-against-the-wall deadline from Disney Press, for what will be my third book with them (though it's the fourth book I've been contracted for). After the fun of my birthday (thanks to all!), I spent a solid week doing nothing but writing and hiding in isolation.
Then I went to New York. While I couldn't pass up the opportunity to hand in my manuscript by hand, I wasn't really there on business. In fact, everyone seemed to ask me: are you here on business or pleasure? It took me the longest time to finally fess up: I'm here on vacation. It was a rare chance (for me) to really do nothing (by my standards -- I still spent a bunch of time in Manhattan diners writing a short story). Now, it's catch-up time. Funny how that circle remains unbroken. // posted at
