Okay, in yesterday's post I joked about how bad daytime TV is -- but holy shit! In between the hari-kari-inducing local Fox news program that came before Live Like a Star, to the horribly cheap commercials for accident lawyers and vocational schools, I found new awareness to the bottom of our culture.
I had been wondering how the show was going to edit 12 hours of almost non-stop footage into less than 15 minutes. Well, the answer should be rather obvious: there's not much to it. I don't think I come across as a total idiot (any more than I am). It's sad (but expected) that UglyTown didn't get any mention, even though the first scene was outside the UglyOffices. Tom looked great on camera at the end. And perhaps most importantly, my friend Mark finally technically made it onto a reality TV show ... even though this was a far cry from Survivor! What I was most surprised about was how it came across (to me) as a loving tribute to the green-hair era. The whole thing was perfectly not real. And that's why I loved it.
