Things I Learned at BEA, part 2: While hanging with a wonderful young Canadian from Arsenal Pulp Press in Vancouver (happy birthday, Trish), I asked innocently if there were any nicknames for the fair city of Vancouver. You know, like the way that San Francisco is also known as Franny. Dear Trish told me it was called "The 'Couve" ... which got me in trouble with just about every other Canadian at the show, all of whom had no idea what the hell I was talking about. Other terms thrown about were Van City, Vangroover, the Lower Mainland, and my personal fave, the GVCR. Thanks also go to Johanna at the almighty Akashic Books for helping me extract this info. Beware the Red and White Menace!
