Acts of Creation

The lovely Gabrielle sent this quote to me today:

"Acts of creation are ordinarily reserved for gods and poets, but humbler folk may circumvent this restriction if they know how. To plant a pine, for example, one need be neither god nor poet; one need only own a good shovel. By virtue of this curious loophole in the rules, any clodhopper may say: Let there be a tree--and there will be one." --Aldo Leopold, conservationist (1887-1948).

Part of the Bowie/Pascoe Manifesto: Clodhoppers of the world unite! Your hands are your shovels! Embrace every one of your actions as an act of creation, live the life of fiction, and you too shall be a god and a poet!

I see that Gabrielle reads The Word of the Day - one of the internet's oldest, and best, daily email "newsletters". Good for her.

And a great quote, too.

So, if you're the David Bowie of publishing, who does Tom get to be? The Spider From Mars?

Tom has qualities that are both spider-like and martian, yet he is not the Spider from Mars.

Tom is obviously the Tommy Lee of publishing. Or not.

Finally, someone talking some sense. Though really, Tommy Lee is the Tom Fassbender of heavy metal. Believe it!
