The Wind Warren Zevon's latest, and last, album came out today. On a first listen, it's nice. As much as the supporting cast of star musician friends is nice (Springsteen's solo is amazing), I would have preferred a more laid-bare Zevon, just him and a guitar/piano. The slow songs are the clear winners (has Zevon recorded a truly great all-out rocker in the last ten years?), but even they seem over-produced. Although at the end of the day, the heartbreaking honesty of "Keep Me in Your Heart" will remain worth the price of admission alone.
