Feast, Famine, Focus Got the Morphine blasting on the stereo, and just got off the phone with Sean Doolittle. We're in the very final phases of sending his second book to the printers. But here's a little confounding thing that happened during the call. He said to me: "How's your book coming?" And, believe it or not, I had to pause and say, "which book are you talking about?" Seriously. I'm working on my second novelization for Disney's TV show Kim Possible. Tom and I are outlining our third mystery (Codenamed: Red Hat). I have an outline for a stand-alone mystery/love story. Add to that a recent comics gig from Dark Horse, a DVD project with DZN Design Studio, and my monthly column with Smart Computing Magazine, and I kinda feel like it would be great to have the focus (and the means) to answer Sean's question with "the book is coming along quite well." But I must remain confident that doing as much work as I can is the path to greatness. It occurs to me now that while my focus isn't on any single project (as I sometimes wish it were), my focus has been -- and remains -- on living under a work ethic.
